NWO-call voor samenwerking met China op gebied van Water: "Integrated water management in relation with climate change and sea level rise" (JSTP).

Rond 16 maart zal NWO een oproep doen voor voorstellen voor onderzoeksprojecten op het gebied van Water in samenwerking met Chinese onderzoekers. Daarbij zal ook een bilaterale workshop voor "match making" worden aangekondigd, 13-14 mei in Beijing. Deze nieuwe akties vinden plaats in het kader van het "China Netherlands Joint Scientific Thematic Research Programmes" (JSTP). De deadline voor indiening van voorstellen wordt 15 juni. Alleen voor deelname aan de workshop in mei en subsidie van reiskosten wordt een beknopte vooraanmelding van het beoogde voorstel gevraagd (deadline ca. 28 april). Het budget bedraagt M€ 3 waarmee aan Nederlandse kant ca. 10-12 AIO- of postdocplaatsen kunnen worden gefinancierd.

Het programma bouwt voort op de inbreng van Marc Bierkens en Huib de Vriend in het NWO-thema Duurzame Aarde enerzijds en intensivering van de bilaterale samenwerking van NWO met China anderzijds.

Een 'mager zeventje'. Dit cijfer geven 30 jonge hydrologen de Deltacommissie voor het advies over de toekomst van het Nederlandse waterbeheer. De jonge onderzoekers, verbonden aan verschillende Nederlandse universiteiten, kwamen 27 oktober bijeen om te discussiëren over de aanbevelingen van de Deltacommissie.

Majid Hassanizadeh received the honorary degree of Doctor-Ingenieur from the University of Stuttgart. Click here for more information.

Huub Savenije, Professor of Hydrology at Delft University and Professor of Integrated Water Resources Management at UNESCO-IHE, will be awarded the Henry Darcy Medal of the European Geosciences Union (EGU).

The Medal is reserved for individuals in recognition of their outstanding scientific contributions in water resources research and water resources engineering and management. The official ceremony will take place during the EGU General Assembly in Vienna, April 2008.

Majid Hassanizadeh has been elected as Fellow of American Association for Advancement of Science (AAAS). He was nominated by the Section on Atmospheric and Hydrospheric Sciences of AAAS.
